Facebook and Instagram Requirements

Learn how to make sure your Social Media accounts are set up correctly to allow you to connect them to Truevail and get your Social Media account preferences and services ready to go

Before you begin

Be sure to have the login details and passwords to both your Instagram and Facebook accounts

Requirements

You need to have a Business Instagram Account (not a Personal or Creator account), a Facebook Business Page and the two need to be connected. Check you have the correct business page/account BEFORE trying to connect them

Connect your Facebook Business page and Business Instagram Accounts

Once you have made sure you have the correct accounts, you can connect them

From your computer

• Log into business.facebook.com
• Underneath your business name, there will be a Connect Instagram link, click the link
• An Instagram pop-up will appear. Log into Instagram
• If they're connected, that link will say Edit Instagram Profile instead of Connect Instagram

From your phone

• Open Instagram and go to your profile (select the image in the bottom right)
• Select Edit profile
• Below Public business information, select Page
• Tap Continue on the Connect or create a Facebook Page popup
• Tap Log in to Facebook and choose a Page from your Pages that you'd like to connect to or select Create a new Facebook Page
• Tap Connect after you've selected a Page or tap Create after you've created a Facebook Page

Setup your Social Media Preferences with Truevail

When your social media accounts are linked, you can connect them to Truevail and setup your preferences.

1. Login to Truevail where you'll be prompted to complete your setup.
2. If you have previously COMPLETED the Social Media section - click the section again to edit the details.
3. Click add profile and choose Instagram.
4. Click I agree.
5. Facebook will open since your accounts are connected.
6. Click Continue.
7. Select Opt in to all current and future businesses.
8. Click Continue.
9. Select Opt in to current pages only and make sure the box next to your page is selected too.
10. Click Continue.
11. Select Opt in to current Instagram accounts only and select the box next to the correct Instagram account.
12. Click Continue.
13. Click Save which will take you back toTruevail and you'll be able to see your Instagram account.
14. Follow the same steps to add your Facebook business page. Once saved, you'll also be able to see it in your account.

Professional Instagram Accounts: Business vs Creator

Professional accounts on Instagram can either be set to Business or Creator. A creator account is best for public figures, content producers, artists and influencers, while a business account is best for businesses looking to grow and reach customers.
